Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous coaching or playing experience in the applicable sport.
  • Ability to communicate with and mentor college-aged student-athletes.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends and travel with team as required.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.

Responsibilities

  • On-Court Coaching and Development: Assist in planning and executing daily practices, focusing on individual skill development and team tactics.
  • Scouting and Game Preparation: Conduct video breakdown and prepare scouting reports for upcoming matchups.
  • Operations and Administration: Assist with equipment inventory, fundraising, youth camps, and related events.
  • Rules Compliance: Maintain compliance with NJCAA DIII, Region 3, MSAC and SUNY Broome policies.

Job Description:

Assistant Coaches support all aspects of the athletic program,including coaching, recruiting, student-athlete development,academic support, team administration, and game-day activities.Successful candidates will demonstrate a strong commitment tostudent-athlete success, teamwork, sportsmanship, academicachievement, and the mission of SUNY Broome Community College.

SUNY Broome Athletics offers the following sports: CrossCountry, Soccer, Volleyball, Competitive Cheer, Basketball, Trackand Field, Baseball, and Softball.

SUNY Broome Athletics competes in the NJCAA Division III, Region3 and Mid-State Athletic Conference (MSAC) and is committed toproviding student-athletes with a positive collegiate athleticexperience while supporting their academic, personal, and athleticdevelopment.

Responsibilities include, but are not limitedto:
On-Court Coaching and Development
  • Assist in planning and executing daily practices, focusing onindividual skill development, position-specific drills, and teamtactical strategies.
Scouting and Game Preparation
  • Conduct film breakdown of opponents and assist in creatingscouting reports. Utilize available video and tools to prepareplayers for upcoming matchups.
Operations and Administration
  • Assist with equipment inventory, fundraising initiatives, youthsummer camps, and community service events pertaining to applicablesport.
Rules Compliance
  • Maintain strict compliance with all NJCAA DIII, Region 3 andMSAC regulations, and SUNY Broome policies.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or equivalency required. Associates degreepreferred.
  • Previous coaching or playing experience in the applicablesport.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with and mentor college-agedstudent-athletes.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends and travel with team asrequired.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean drivingrecord.
  • Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. Applicantsmust be authorized to work in the United States without current orfuture sponsorship from the employer.
Additional Information:

The Assistant Coach position is paid bi-weekly throughthe applicable season via a $3,300 stipend.

Offers of employment will be conditional based upon the resultsof a satisfactory, required pre-employment Standard BackgroundCheck.
