Job summary

Barstow Community College is seeking an Assistant Coach for Men's Basketball to support a competitive program under the direction of the Associate Dean/Athletic Director - Kinesiology.

The role focuses on planning and executing the basketball program, recruiting players, directing conditioning and practice, maintaining statistics, building ties with local high schools, and ensuring compliance with college rules and applicable agencies.

Qualifications

• Must have either an Associate’s Degree with six years coaching experience, or a Bachelor’s degree with two years experience.
• Demonstrated sensitivity to diverse backgrounds of community college students.
• All coursework and degrees from regionally accredited colleges/universities.
• Equivalency possible; provide documentation if qualifications differ.

ASSIGNMENT

Under the direction of the Associate Dean/Athletic Director - Kinesiology, the Assistant Coach for Men's Basketball will perform the following:

• Assist in the planning and execution of the basketball program at Barstow College.
• Recruit competitive players.

• Develop and maintain a close relationship with local high school basketball coaches.
• Provide compliance with college rules and policies, the Commission on Athletics as well as other applicable regulatory agencies.
• Perform other work related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Must have either an Associate’s Degree and six years coaching experience; OR Bachelor’s degree and two years experience
• Must demonstrate a sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.

All course work and degrees must be from a regionally accredited college or university.
