Job summary

Albany State University is seeking an Assistant Coach for Men's Baseball on the West Campus. The role reports to the Head Baseball Coach and contributes to the organization, administration, and strategic development of the NCAA Division II program.

You will analyze players, develop players at practice and in games, prepare scouting reports, and manage travel, camps, and recruitment while ensuring academic progress of student athletes. The position is full-time with competitive benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Three years of baseball coaching experience at the high school, travel ball or collegiate level.
• Ability to provide in-depth scouting reports and use technology to enhance our pitchers and hitters.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience accepted.

Job Summary

Reporting to the Head Baseball Coach, the Assistant Coach is responsible for the below management and operational activities of a NCAA Division II sport program. The position will assist the organization and administration of the sport program in accordance with the rules and regulations governing the athletic program and the institution.

Performs a variety of functions within the baseball program. Analyzes, develops and supervises the players at practice and in competition. Works with developing hitters, pitchers, catchers, infielders, and outfielders. Prepares pre-game scouting reports and defensive alignments. Compiles video and data analysis to present to the student athletes. Assists in maintaining the facilities at and around the baseball complex. Assesses and monitors student athlete academic success. Assists and monitors potential and current student athletes' materials for admittance, financial aid, class schedules and registration. Recruits and analyzes potential student athletes for the baseball program. Completes travel paperwork, food arrangements, and laundry.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing and organizing daily practice sessions, game preparation for competition, and off-season training.


• Prepare, assist, and participate in camps and clinics as necessary.


• Compiles pre-game scouting reports and defensive alignments.


• Compiles and provides student athletes with data and video analysis.


• Assist in recommending and preparing schedules for non-conference home/away games to the Director of Athletics and Head Baseball Coach.


• Arranges travel accommodations and completes associated paperwork.


• Maintains baseball field and the facilities surrounding the complex.


• Promotes, monitors, and assesses student athletes' academic success.


• Performs recruitment of potential student athletes and assist the athletes to guide them through the admission process.


• Assist in recommending scholarship awards for student-athletes to the Director of Athletics.


• Active participation in respective sport association.


• Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree.

Three years of baseball coaching experience at the high school, travel ball or collegiate level as a volunteer, GA, or assistant.

Knowledge to provide in depth scouting reports and knowledge of using technology to enhance our pitchers and hitters.

An equivalent combination of education and experience will be accepted.
