Job Location: Corpus Christi, TX 78415, Salary Range: $2,000.00 - $2,000.00 Salary, St. John Paul II Academy in Corpus Christi, Texas, is hiring an Assistant Coach for Boys Basketball for the 2026-2027 school year.The primary responsibilities of the Coach are to instruct and coach students to develop skills and ability to excel in assigned sport. The Assistant Coach also contributes to the Catholic education program as a whole and to the growth of students involved in athletics.

This is a part-time position that starts in November 2026 and ends in February 2027.

Responsibilities:

• As an integral part of the ministry for the Church, this position will support and uphold the philosophy of Catholic ministry and the mission of the Diocese of Corpus Christi in both professional and personal life
• Acts as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church
• Continuously growsin the ministry by participating in religious ceremonies, training sessions, and reflection activities as directed
• Use of a variety of instructional techniquesto meet the needs and improve the abilities of student athletes in the sport assigned
• Manage and supervise athletic activities, contests, and practice sessions to promote individual growth in athletic skills, teamwork, and good sportsmanship
• Work with other members of school staff to plan and implement instructional goals and objectives to ensure the overall educational development of students athletes

Program Management:

• Establish performance criteria for competition and evaluate students’ athletic abilities initially and on a regular basis
• Model performance criteria and physical movement required for successful student performance of sport
• Take all necessary precautions to protect student athletes, equipment, materials, and facilities
• Work with the athletic director to schedule fundraising events, planned special events, practices and any added competition events
• Monitor and enforce student eligibility criteria for extracurricular participation
• Develop and coordinate a continuing evaluation process of the coaching program and make changes based on findings

• Demonstrates a professional attitude as a member of diocesan staff
• Maintains confidentiality in matters of assigned department and the diocese

Boys Assistant Basketball Coach - Part-Time: Qualifications:

• High school Diploma or equivalent
• Experience in the assigned sport
• Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with diocesan policies and procedures
• Valid Texas driver’s license
• Must be 21 years of age or older

Special Knowledge /Skills:

• Knowledge of coaching techniques and procedures
• Ability to instruct and supervise student athletes
• Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
• CPR Certified

• Regular bending, stooping, kneeling, crawling, turning, reaching, climbing, and balancing
