Assistant Coach - Beach Volleyball
Primary Purpose:

The Assistant Coach- Beach Volleyball teaches and instructsstudent-athletes how to perform in their sport, includingsport-related fundamentals, skills, team concepts, and safetypractices.

Essential Functions:
  • Instructs and coaches student-athletes, emphasizingfundamentals, skills development, conditioning, game preparation,strategy, and safety practices.
  • Exercises discretion and judgment in implementing instructionaltechniques designed to develop student-athletes' capacities.
  • Integrates innovative technology into the instruction ofstudent-athletes to facilitate learning and safety.
  • Maintains an environment that emphasizes academics as apriority, making every effort to ensure that all student-athletesmeet academic requirements, while working to integrate sports intothe academic life of the University.
  • Maintains complete knowledge of and compliance with rules andregulations governing intercollegiate athletics while workingwithin the department's rules, regulations, and policies.
  • Assists in the preparation of an annual written plan and goalsfor the program and the annual assessment of performance inrelation to the plan and goals.
  • Maintains discipline in the program, promotes fairness,understanding, and protectiveness of student-athletes whilemotivating them.
  • Maintains an environment of cooperation and continuousimprovement, maintaining positive communications supporting theathletic program, the University, and the University staff.
  • Participates in marketing and promotional activities withmedia, alumni, and civic groups consistent with the objectives ofthe athletic program.
  • Assists with recruiting evaluations, official visits, and anytravel-related activities of prospective student-athletes.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or requested.

Minimum Qualifications:

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Strong knowledge of effective coaching practices, including theintegration of technology into instructional methods.
  • Prior experience in sport sciences.
  • Advanced knowledge of NCAA and Conference Rules and Regulationsas they pertain to student-athletes.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent skills working with social media.
  • Strong skills with Animoto, Canva, and other marketing andpromotional online platforms.
  • Expertise with Volleystation, Volleymetrics, and Balltime.
  • Demonstrated event planning and ability to implement aplan.
  • Demonstrated management skills and knowledge of supervision andmanagement practices.
  • Ability to contribute to the recruitment of prospectivestudent-athletes.
  • Experience and sensitivity in working with people of diversebackgrounds and cultures.
  • Demonstrated experience in advancing social justice, equity,and inclusion in a university setting.
  • Ability to engage and integrate culturally responsive practicesand knowledge in their work.
Physical Requirements:

Work Environment/Work Week/Travel

Work is performed in a standard office environment as well as atsports venues.

Work is performed during standard business hours, as well as duringnon-regular office hours to fulfill business needs. Extensivetravel required.

Valid driver's license required. Incumbent must also be able tomeet the University's fleet rules and be eligible to drive forUniversity business. The University and its insurance carrierreserves the right to exclude applicants based on their drivingrecord.

Hiring Range:

$54,080 - $55,000 per year. We considerfactors such as, but not limited to, scope and responsibilities ofthe position, candidate's qualifications, internal equity, as wellas market and organizational considerations when extending anoffer.
