Job Description:

The Western Kentucky University Psychology Department (www.wku.edu/psychology/) is seeking qualified applicants for a non-tenure-track eligible full-time Clinical Faculty position in Clinical Psychology at the rank of Assistant Clinical Professor, or Associate Clinical Professor. This position will support the Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D.) in Applied Psychology: Clinical Concentration program. The Clinical Faculty position is appointed based on the ability to support the Department of Psychology Clinical Psychology programs in teaching clinical courses, providing supervision to beginning and advanced clinical psychology students and assisting in clinical practicum placements, clinical administrative duties, and clinical evaluation of training sites. This position does not require research responsibilities, but interested applicants may serve on dissertation and thesis committees. This position is eligible for a salary enhancement or extra clinical differential pay that incentivizes clinical psychology faculty to work in an underserved geographical area.

Responsibilities for the position include teaching clinical psychology courses, advising clinical psychology graduate students, providing clinical expertise to dissertation and thesis projects, and assisting with practicum and internship placements, and on-site clinical supervision of students in the WKU Psychology Training Clinic. Clinical faculty play a critical role in supporting the academic and training goals of the program. Clinical faculty may also serve on department and university committees.

In addition to the Psy.D. program, the Department of Psychology has an undergraduate major in psychology, a Master's program in clinical psychology, and a NASP-approved Specialist in Education program in school psychology. Requirements:

Clinical Assistant Professor

  • Candidate must possess an earned doctorate (PhD or PsyD) in Clinical or Counseling Psychology from a regionally accredited institution;
  • Candidate must have completed an internship in Clinical or Counseling Psychology
  • Candidate must be licensed or license eligible in Kentucky

*Note: To be eligible for clinical incentive pay, the candidate must be licensed in Kentucky and have designation as a Health Service Psychologist (HSP).

Clinical Associate Professor

  • Candidate must possess an earned doctorate (PhD or PsyD) in Clinical or Counseling Psychology from a regionally accredited educational institution;
  • Candidate must have completed an internship in Clinical or Counseling Psychology
  • Candidate must be already licensed in another state, licensed or license eligible in Kentucky, and have designation as a Health Service Psychologist (HSP).
  • Candidate must have 5+ years of practicing as a licensed psychologist
  • Candidate must have prior experience supervising psychology trainees or unlicensed psychologists
