Responsibilities

Job Summary

Assist with technical procedures in the Clinical Laboratory, performing tasks in phlebotomy, customer service, clerical work, and data entry.

Essential Functions

1. Retrieve specimens from pneumatic tube system, prepare samples for analysis, and distribute them to work areas or load onto instruments.
2. Prepare specimens for reference testing, including requisition completion, packaging, storage, and courier notification.
3. Verify instrument function, perform preventative maintenance, and troubleshoot equipment to ensure proper operation.
4. Answer calls, maintain inventory, review policies, and assist in training new staff and students.
5. Perform phlebotomy as assigned.

Education

• High School Diploma or GED required.

Experience

• 2 to 5 years of phlebotomy/CLA experience preferred.

Licenses and Certifications

• AMT Certified Office Laboratory Technician (COLT) or equivalent required.
• Completion of Laboratory Assisting program from an accredited school required.
• Additional certifications such as Laboratory Assistant Program or equivalent preferred.
• Certification requirements vary based on experience; some roles may not require certification.
