Job summary

Alera Group is seeking an Employee Benefits Assistant Client Manager to deliver proactive client service, thoughtful benefits strategy, and a high-touch experience for clients and employees. The role is hybrid with in-office days in Scottsdale and Chandler, Arizona, and involves coordinating with carriers, vendors, and consultants.

You will support group enrollments, renewals, reporting, audits, and group onboarding while building strong relationships with clients and internal teams to improve

Qualifications

  • 1–3 years of group medical insurance experience in plan administration.
  • 1 year of employee benefits consulting or broker experience.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience with self-funded and fully insured group plans.
  • Ability to interpret contracts and write routine reports with supervision.
  • Strong verbal and written communication, organizational and customer service skills.
  • Proficient with MS Word, Excel, and Outlook; basic math aptitude.

  • Coordinate changes, renewals, and new group business with the Client Manager.
  • Act as point person for group and consultant coordination.
  • Assist in on-site enrollment meetings and onboarding of new groups.
  • Produce reports per established procedures.
  • Maintain information in CRM and internal systems; support audits.

Assistant Client Manager – Employee Benefits

We’re seeking an Employee Benefits Assistant Client Manager who will make a meaningful impact by delivering proactive client service, thoughtful benefits strategy, and a high‑touch experience for both clients and employees.

Responsibilities
  • Receive or initiate communication with employer groups, insurance carriers, and other vendors regarding claims payment issues, eligibility/termination provisions, billing, contract inquiries, and compliance with Plan Documents and legislation, providing quality service and efficient processing of information.
  • Work with the Client Manager as a liaison between carriers and vendors to coordinate and implement changes, renewals, and new group business.
  • Act as the point person for group and consultant coordination.
  • Assist in preparation for and with on‑site enrollment meetings at the group location as requested by the Client Manager.
  • Assist with establishment and onboarding of new groups and renewal of existing groups.
  • Prepare and produce reports as requested by groups following established procedures.
  • Maintain and update pertinent information in BCG internal systems and Customer Relations Management (CRM) in a timely fashion.
  • Assist with audits such as eligibility and carrier record reviews when requested.
  • Travel locally to client meetings and events as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Management.
Qualifications
  • One to three years of group medical insurance experience involving plan administration or equivalent combination of education and insurance experience.
  • One year of experience in an employee benefits consulting or broker office.
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology, group medical insurance terminology, and regulatory requirements and restrictions.
  • Experience with self‑funded and fully insured large and small group plans.
  • Ability to read and interpret contract documents and to write routine reports and correspondence with assistance from a senior level member of the Client Services team.
  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills as well as strong organizational and customer service skills.
  • Proficient PC and data entry skills with experience in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook. Basic mathematical aptitude.
Education Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
