Salary Grade: Grade 21

Pay Rate/Range: The budgeted salary range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is $80,000 to $86,000/year. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience; the budget for the position; and the application of fair, equitable, and consistent pay practices at the University. The full salary range for this position is $73,800 to $131,200/year.

Work Location: 1150 Kerr Hall

Working Days and Hours: Monday-Friday; 8am-5pm

Brief Summary of Job Duties

The Assistant Classroom A/V Services Manager supports the daily operations of Classroom A/V Services (CAVS) under the direction of the Classroom A/V Services Manager. CAVS provides instructional technical support for A/V equipment across approximately 275 campus instructional spaces, and this position directly supervises three full-time career staff and up to 35 student staff. The Assistant Manager manages office workflows and scheduling, develops comprehensive training materials, and conducts quarterly training sessions for both instructional and event A/V support. In coordination with the CAVS Manager, this position establishes streamlined operational processes and advises on support for the maintenance, repair, and utilization of all classroom A/V and computing resources. Additionally, the Assistant Manager supervises staff providing on-site and in person assistance, oversees equipment inventory, manages machine imaging for Mac and PC platforms within these instructional spaces, and advises on the associated computer replacement cycle.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
  • 4+ years in related area and/or equivalent experience
  • 1+ years leading, supervising and coordinating the work of others
  • 2+ years supporting hardware & software installation and troubleshooting
  • 2+ years experience using deployment and management tools
  • 2+ years experience in desktop and A/V support in a fast-paced, helpdesk environment
  • Evidence of strong interpersonal communications skills.
  • Exhibited proficient technical skills / experience including Mac / PC, web development, on-line conferencing, multimedia, presentation tools, and emerging technologies.
  • Demonstrated effective skills in managing technical staff.
  • Thorough knowledge of desktop and business / technical support systems, including working knowledge of microcomputer and workstation hardware, operating systems and network hardware and software.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated experience using strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Comprehensive understanding of other areas of IT.
  • Proven history in supervision and management of students and other employees in a university environment.
