Job summary

Burns & McDonnell is seeking an Assistant Civil Engineer to support design teams on critical electrical infrastructure projects in the Northeast. You will assist with site development design packages, adapt civil plans to budget and client needs, and help prepare drawings and specifications through design and construction phases.

You will gain exposure to hydrologic/hydraulic calculations, stormwater planning, and coordination with project managers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field from an ABET-accredited program.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment.
• Familiar with standard civil engineering techniques and procedures.
• Internship or related consulting experience is a plus.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Assist in civil design from conceptual phase through design completion.
• Assist in site access design, grading, earthwork modeling, and hydrologic/hydraulic calculations.
• Assist in stormwater management design per guidelines.
• Assist in SWPPP preparation.
• Assist with utility connections to public mains.
• Assist in preparing civil construction specs and quantity take-offs.
• Review submittals, RFIs, and as-builts.
• Modify and review drawings in CAD software.
• Assist with project manager-directed civil components for critical electrical infrastructure.
• Support client presentations and contract administration.
• Assist in field inspections and measurements.
