Job summary

The New York City Department of Transportation seeks an Assistant Civil Engineer to oversee bridge protective coatings, review contract documents, and prepare scopes for construction contracts. You will liaise with NYSDOT and other offices to ensure proper coordination on joint projects and evaluate contractor performance.

Responsibilities include directing staff, planning fieldwork, and ensuring cost estimates meet project requirements.

Qualifications

• Baccalaureate degree in civil engineering with 1 year of civil engineering experience or a Master's degree in civil engineering.
• Proficient communication, both verbal and written; MS Word/PowerPoint/Excel knowledge.
• Driver's license valid in New York State preferred.

Responsibilities

• Directs protective coating work on the Citys bridges.
• Reviews contract documents and final cost estimates for construction.
• Prepares scopes and specifications for contracts.
• Coordinates with NYSDOT and external agencies for project reviews.
• Supervises and guides subordinate staff to meet objectives.
