An established industry player in urban infrastructure is seeking a dedicated Assistant Civil Engineer to contribute to the maintenance and analysis of the East River Bridges. This role involves reviewing inspection reports, preparing detailed repair plans, and conducting field visits to ensure the integrity of critical structures. Candidates should possess a degree in civil engineering and relevant experience, along with proficiency in AutoCAD and STAAD Pro. Works independently with supervision; reviews NYCDOT and NYSDOT consultant inspection reports for the four East River Bridges (ERB); prepares repair details and issues flags for the ERB; utilizes STAAD Pro computer program for load rating and structural analysis of bridges citywide; provides analysis of steel and reinforced concrete structural members and components by hand calculations; makes field visits to inspect, resolve, and revise the flag packages on ERB; assists in maintaining records of Flags for the ERB up to date and communicates with Consultants for Bridges under contract to update the status of outstanding flags; assists and prepares structural analysis of bridge components and repair details using AutoCAD for bridges citywide; helps assist the Bridge Repair Unit with the means and methods to carry out prepared repair details and makes field visits to verify field conditions, sign off on letters, drawings, and structural details performed by other non-licensed engineers. Discusses repair and adjusts repair details if necessary; assists the Bridge Repair Unit in the field while flag repairs are being performed; performs other related duties.
This position may be eligible for remote work up to 2 days per week, pursuant to the Remote Work Pilot Program agreed to between the City and DC37.
ASSISTANT CIVIL ENGINEER - 20210
Candidate must possess computer skills including AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, and excellent interpersonal, communication, and team-leading skills. A valid Motor Vehicle Driver's license in the State of New York is also required.
