The City of Chandler Law Department invites qualified applicants to join as an Assistant City Prosecutor II. The role follows a standard Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. schedule.

Prosecute misdemeanor cases, handle pretrials, trials, and appeals within City Court, under the Prosecutor’s Office umbrella. Minimum qualifications include a Juris Doctorate, 2 years of criminal trial experience with legal research, and active Arizona State Bar enrollment, or an equivalent combination of experience

Qualifications

• 2 years of experience as a criminal trial attorney including legal research.
• Licensed attorney in good standing with the State Bar of Arizona; or equivalent experience and training.

The City of Chandler Law Department is currently seeking qualified individuals interested in joining our team as a Assistant City Prosecutor II.

The position is scheduled to work Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Current City of Chandler employees may only hold one position and are not eligible for additional part-time or secondary positions within the City of Chandler.

Who we are

The Law Department serves as the legal advisor to the City Council, City Manager and all City departments, and represents the City in all legal proceedings. The Prosecutor's Office is a section of the Law Department and is responsible for the prosecution of criminal misdemeanor cases in City Court and appeals to the Superior Court, Court of Appeals and the State Supreme Court.

Our new team member will have a passion for customer service, teamwork, and collaboration. We are seeking to perform advanced and professional work in handling misdemeanor prosecutions in the City; handles charges, pretrials, trials and the appeals process.

Minimum qualifications

• A Juris Doctorate Degree; and
• 2 years of experience as a criminal trial attorney which includes experience in legal research; and
• A licensed attorney in good standing with the State Bar of Arizona; or
• Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.

This is a regular full-time position, subject to a 6-month probationary period. A register of qualified candidates will be active for 4 months should another position become available.
