Job summary

The YMCA of Greater Erie is hiring an Assistant Childcare Director for the Eastside YMCA location. The role oversees day care and school-age programs, ensuring safety, quality standards, and a nurturing environment.

This position features a 40-hour week (Mon-Fri) with benefits including health and dental insurance, retirement plan, paid holidays and PTO, and a YMCA membership. Applicants should be at least 18, with a related degree and relevant supervisory experience.

Qualifications

• At least 18 years of age.
• Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent, to qualify as a Group Supervisor under DHS.
• Three or more years of related experience preferred as a coordinator or supervisor of childcare programs.
• Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
• PA-specific pre-hiring standards (Act 33/34, FBI Clearance, etc.) and YMCA certifications.
• Negative TB test and understanding of ADA requirements.
• Commitment to safety and high-quality program standards; loves working with children.

Responsibilities

• Manage, direct and coordinate day care and school age childcare programs for the location.
• Ensure safety and high-quality program standards and procedures.
• Develop strategies for children and provide an environment for learning.
• Enroll new children and facilitate onboarding with parents and teachers.
• Communicate with parents daily and maintain relationships with agencies and organizations.
• Respond to inquiries and complaints in a timely manner.
• Spend a minimum of 15 hours per week in the classroom as scheduled.
• Attend family events and ensure site success through meaningful relationships.
