Job summary

YMC in Brentwood, MO is seeking a part-time Child Care Teacher to follow curriculum guidelines and foster development in early childhood education. The role involves nurturing children, planning developmentally appropriate activities, and maintaining safety and well-being under YMCA policies.

Collaboration with families and staff is essential. The position emphasizes building self-help skills, observation and assessments, and active engagement with diverse communities while supporting children

• Ability to relate to children, parents, branch staff members and volunteers.

Responsibilities

• Follow general direction and perform other duties as assigned by the Child Care Teacher or Director.
• Implements curriculum within the established guidelines
• Nurtures children through purposeful programming dedicated to building achievement and belonging in children and relationships among children and families
• Provide children opportunities to build self-help and independence skills.
• Ensures ongoing, systematic observation of individual children and consistently completes developmental assessments.
• Ability to be able to support children in need.
• Engages parents/families connecting them to the YMCA.
• Utilize sound judgment and discretionary skills in accordance with the Gateway Region YMCA policies.
• Maintain positive relationships with many diverse people, including staff, parents, volunteers and program site administration and demonstrate strong public relation skills.
• Ensure YMCA policies and guidelines are followed at all times.
• Maintain an environment that ensures children’s safety and well-being.
• Plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities.
• Ensure zero tolerance for abuse and actively participate in the protection of youth and teens.
• Performs all other duties assigned.

Requirements

• Minimum of 18 years of age
• Experience working with children.
• Must be working toward CDA; Associates or Bachelor’s Degree related to Early Childhood Education
• Ability to relate to children, parents, branch staff members and volunteers
