Job summary

The Honolulu Board of Water Supply seeks an Assistant Chief of Water System Operations in Honolulu to assist the Administrator and guide the division's water distribution functions. Responsibilities include directing day-to-day operations, monitoring performance, supervising staff, evaluating incidents, inspecting facilities, coordinating emergencies, and recommending policy improvements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical, civil, or structural engineering.
• Four (4) years of registered professional engineering experience, including two (2) years in a managerial/administrative position.
• U.S. citizen, national or permanent resident eligible for unrestricted employment under federal law.

Responsibilities

• Direct and monitor the Division's day-to-day operations.
• Monitor the division’s overall performance in meeting long and short-term goals.
• Oversee the supervision of the division’s workforce, authorize work orders and contract actions.
• Evaluate findings of distribution-related water main breaks and inspect facilities to assess condition and replacement needs.
• Coordinate emergency functions between divisions during water interruptions and complaints.
• Review, evaluate and implement operational policies, procedures, and guidelines.
