Job summary

ABM Industries seeks an Assistant Chief Engineer to lead engineering staff and oversee maintenance of buildings, equipment, and grounds at our Seattle site. The role includes managing preventive maintenance programs, training staff, and coordinating with the Chief Engineer on safety and operations.

Ideal candidates bring 3–4 years of progressive operations experience and relevant licenses (stationary/HVAC, EPA Universal).

Qualifications

Experience commensurate with the facility and Assistant Chief Engineer role.
3-4 years progressive operations experience.
State/local license for stationary engineer/HVAC and EPA Universal where applicable.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
MS Word, Excel, and Outlook; building automation systems experience.

Responsibilities

Directs engineering staff and service contractors to maintain buildings, grounds, and equipment.
Manage preventive maintenance, work orders, and QA inspections; report findings to Chief Engineer.
Provide hands-on and classroom training for staff; foster learning and development.
Manage stock levels of engineering equipment and parts; control inventory.
Schedule engineers, prioritize emergencies, and adjust resources as needed.
Prepare labor and material requisitions and obtain approvals.
Maintain as-built drawings and read/interpret building plans.
Develop and update the preventive maintenance program; ensure safety standards.
