Job summary

Brooks School in North Andover, MA, seeks a dynamic assistant certified athletic trainer for the 2026-2027 academic year to support its athletic program and student-athletes.

You will assist the head trainer with daily operations, provide game and practice coverage, conduct injury evaluations, coordinate rehab, and work closely with the Health and Wellness Center, coaches, and parents to promote safe return‑to‑play and prevention.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training from an accredited program (Master’s preferred).
  • Current NATABOC certification.
  • Massachusetts athletic trainer licensure.
  • 3–5 years of athletic training experience, preferably in a high school environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to move freely around a large campus, and between and among various athletic venues.
  • Flexibility to work weekends and longer evenings in the winter season.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the head certified athletic trainer with the day-to-day operation of the athletic training program.
  • Provide home and away game and practice coverage as determined by the head certified athletic trainer.
  • Perform athlete injury evaluations and make independent decisions regarding treatment, return to play, and necessary referrals.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of all athletic-related injuries and treatments.
  • Coordinate and implement rehabilitation programs and return-to-play protocols for student-athletes.
  • Effectively collaborate and communicate with the Brooks Health and Wellness Center, supervising physician, outside providers, coaches, and parents.
  • Provide education for coaches and student-athletes on best practices for injury prevention.
  • Promote safe and appropriate practice and competition environments.
  • Serve as an effective and positive role model for student-athletes.
  • Perform all duties with professionalism, which includes relating to others in a courteous, cooperative, sensitive, and congenial manner.
  • Assist the director of athletics and head certified athletic trainer with other responsibilities as requested.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

QUALIFICATIONS

Salary range: $57,000-$67,000

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This role requires frequent travel to attend athletic contests.
