Responsibilities

• Order, receive, and stock central supply items such as briefs, gloves, gowns, and OTC medications.
• Maintain accurate inventory records and ensure supplies are organized and accessible.
• Monitor usage patterns and communicate concerns about overuse or shortages to nursing leadership.
• Assist other departments with supply-related tasks as needed.
• Maintain supply budget and track expenditures.
• Build and maintain positive relationships with vendors and suppliers, and manage purchases using ordering software.
• Understand basic contract terms and use ordering software to manage purchases.
• Move supplies throughout the facility using carts and other basic supply equipment.

General PurposeThe Central Supply Clerk is responsible for managing the facility’s medical and general supply inventory. This role ensures that essential items are ordered, stocked, and distributed efficiently to support resident care and daily operations.Essential DutiesOrder, receive, and stock central supply items such as briefs, gloves, gowns, and over-the-counter medicationsMaintain accurate inventory records and ensure supplies are organized and accessibleMonitor usage patterns and communicate concerns about overuse or shortages to nursing leadershipIdentify and recommend new products or systems that improve efficiency and support staff needsAssist other departments with supply-related tasks as neededMaintain supply budget and track expendituresBuild and maintain positive relationships with vendors and suppliersUnderstand basic contract terms and use ordering software to manage purchasesQualificationEducation and/or ExperienceCertified Nursing Assistant (C.N.A.) preferredPrior experience in inventory management or supply coordination in a healthcare setting is a plusBasic computer skills and familiarity with ordering systemsStrong organizational and time-management abilitiesEffective communication and teamwork skillsPhysical DemandsFrequent standing, walking, bending, and reachingRegular lifting, pushing, or pulling of supply boxes and carts up to 40 lbsRepetitive tasks such as stocking shelves and organizing inventoryUse of carts, ladders, and basic supply equipmentAbility to move throughout the facility to deliver supplies to various departmentsWork EnvironmentThe work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
