Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Urban Planning, Landscape Architecture or related field.
  • At least two years of experience preferred, or equivalent education/experience.
  • Strong graphic illustration skills and ability to distill ideas into diagrams.
  • Proficiency with PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and graphic communication.

Responsibilities

  • Create visual materials including maps, presentations, and floor plans.
  • Conduct data gathering, coordination and research support.
  • Develop tools and materials for multi-step space planning scenarios.
  • Survey field conditions for projects and planning initiatives.
  • Research urban and campus planning topics and mobility/housing trends.
  • Support CP&D staff on projects with note taking and coordination.
  • Prepare clear reports, meeting notes, memos, and project summaries.
  • Leverage AI tools to enhance research and workflow efficiency.

About the Opportunity
JOB SUMMARY:

Northeastern University Planning, Real Estate & Facilities isseeking an Assistant Campus Planner to join a team of talentedplanners to join the Campus Planning & Design (CP&D)department. The role will support the planning group in draftinginnovative solutions to space challenges and capital projects toposition Northeastern for continued growth and success as atop-tier R1 research institution and global university.

The mission of Campus Planning and Design (CP&D) is to connectpeople, space, and resources to prepare the university to thrive inthe future. This team of planners are responsible for thedevelopment of physical campus growth strategies for the growingglobal network of campuses.

Under direction from the Associate Vice President, the AssistantCampus Planner will report directly to the Director of Research& Academic Campus Planning while providing broader support tothe CP&D team. The role critically supports CP&D'sresponsibility for leading the broad range of strategic planninginitiatives, space planning studies, and capital project scenariodevelopment, that align and maximize the utilization of space andcapital investment with Northeastern's mission. The AssistantCampus Planner will support the team in developing communicationmaterials that distill complex ideas into concise options andtradeoffs. Additionally, they will help collect and interpret data,conduct planning research and analysis, and collaborate on activeplanning initiatives led by the CP&D team.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Create strong visual communication materials including maps,presentations, and annotated floor plans to support departmentalinitiatives and project planning
  • Conduct data gathering/coordination and research support,including precedents
  • Create tools and generate materials to support and communicatemulti-step space planning scenarios
  • Accurately survey and document field conditions for specificprojects and planning initiatives
  • Conduct research on urban and campus planning initiativesincluding, but not limited to, mobility, housing, accessibility,best practices, as well as University space and capital projectrequests
  • Generally, support campus planning staff on specific projects andplanning initiatives as needed (note taking, project and meetingcoordination, etc.)
  • Prepare clear, well-organized written materials such as reports,meeting notes, memos, and project summaries to effectivelycommunicate findings, action items, and recommendations
  • Leverage AI tools and other emerging technologies to enhanceresearch, data analysis, and workflow efficiency across planninginitiatives
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Urban Planning, LandscapeArchitecture or a related field
  • At least two years of experience preferred, or an equivalentcombination of education and experience
  • Strong graphic illustration skills (Adobe Illustrator, InDesign)and experience distilling complex ideas into simple diagrams
  • Strong Microsoft Office Suite skills (PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Strong ability to communicate in written, verbal, and graphicform
  • Ability to switch between competing tasks and assignments
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment and managingprojects with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability, willingness, and comfort working with people fromvarious backgrounds, cultures, nationalities, linguistic styles,and socio-economic status.

Expected Hiring Range:

$67,855.00 - $95,845.00
