Active Learning Centers and Lehigh Valley Martial Arts are hiring a Part-Time Assistant Maintenance Technician to support the upkeep and improvement of our centers across the Lehigh Valley. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on work, can manage projects independently, and takes pride in maintaining safe, welcoming spaces for children and staff.

Responsibilities include a variety of small repair and improvement tasks such as painting, spackling, hanging shelves and gates, fixing small items, and maintaining parking areas. The technician will travel between multiple locations; therefore, reliability, a clean driving record, and dependable transportation are essential. We're seeking someone trustworthy, detail-oriented, and comfortable working around children in licensed childcare settings.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Painting and Spackling
• Drywall and plaster repair
• Furniture assembly and relocation
• Mounting gates, bookshelves, and safety equipment
• Hanging shelves, whiteboards, and classroom materials
• Changing lights and fixtures
• Grounds maintenance
• General facility upkeep and troubleshooting
• Maintaining tools and equipment in safe, working condition

Must have the ability to:

• Perform heavy manual labor
• Bend, stoop, kneel, reach, and inspect work sites
• Lift, carry, push, and pull materials weighing 50 lbs or more, with assistance or proper equipment
• Work in indoor and outdoor environments with moderate to loud noise levels
• Work in varying temperatures and weather conditions
• Organize work independently, set priorities, meet deadlines, and follow up on tasks
• Maintain records and documentation of work performed
• Communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing

Must be a licensed driver with a clean driving record, able to pass background checks, and obtain necessary clearances to work in a childcare environment:

• Criminal background check
• Fingerprinting
• Child abuse clearance
• NSOR (Offender Registry) verification
• Health assessment and TB test
