Job summary

Allen County Public Library (ACPL) is seeking an experienced librarian to serve as Assistant Library Branch Manager at the Pontiac Branch in Fort Wayne, Indiana. This role focuses on building relationships with a diverse community, leading staff, and delivering welcoming, knowledgeable service daily.

The Assistant Branch Manager collaborates with the Branch Manager to oversee operations, develop programs, and ensure high-quality customer experiences, while representing ACPL in community and

Qualifications

• MLS preferred; two years of professional librarian experience, or equivalent.
• Valid driver's license.
• Indiana Public Librarian Certification LC 4; active status throughout employment.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Branch Manager with planning, organization, and evaluation of branch operations and staff.
• Support hiring, training, coaching, and development of branch employees.
• Help create a positive, collaborative team environment.
• Build relationships with customers and community members.
• Provide professional library services including reference, collection, technology, and customer assistance.
• Assist with improving branch services based on community feedback.
• Coordinate and promote programs and services for the Pontiac community.
• Collaborate with community organizations, schools, and other partners to connect residents with library resources.
• Represent ACPL Pontiac Branch at meetings; serve as Person-in-Charge when assigned.
