Job summary

Albert Lea Area Schools is seeking an Assistant Swim Coach to join our high school program at Albert Lea High School. The role focuses on supporting the head coach, planning practices, and preparing meet logistics to develop student-athletes both athletically and academically.

The ideal candidate has coaching or competitive swimming experience, diving experience, strong communication, and a commitment to a positive team culture in line with district policies.

Qualifications

• Experience in coaching or competitive swimming preferred.
• Diving experience preferred.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to build relationships with athletes, families, and staff.
• Current CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain.
• Must meet MSHSL and district coaching requirements.

Responsibilities

• Assist Head Coach with planning and leading practices.
• Manage meet preparation and supervision at practices and competitions.
• Promote skill development, teamwork, sportsmanship, and personal growth.
• Organize team events and communicate with families.
• Ensure a safe, positive environment per policies.
• Collaborate with athletic staff and administration to support student-athlete success.

Position: Assistant Swim Coach

Location: Albert Lea High School

Pay: Accordance with Salary Schedule C ($4,153.33/season)

Albert Lea Area Schools is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Assistant Swim Coach to join our high school swimming and diving program. We are looking for a coach who is passionate about developing student-athletes, fostering a positive team culture, and supporting the overall mission and values of Albert Lea Activities.

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

• Support the Head Coach in all aspects of the swim program, including planning and leading practices, managing meet preparation, and providing supervision at all practices and competitions.
• Promote skill development, teamwork, sportsmanship, and personal growth among all athletes.
• Assist with organizing team events, communication with families, and program logistics.
• Maintain a safe and positive environment that aligns with district and MSHSL policies.
• Collaborate with coaching staff, athletic trainers, and school administration to support student-athlete academic and athletic success.
• Serve as a positive role model and mentor for student-athletes.

Qualifications:

• Previous coaching and/or competitive swimming experience preferred.
• Diving experience preferred
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to build relationships and work effectively with high school athletes, families, and colleagues.
• Current CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
• Must meet all MSHSL and district coaching requirements.
