Job summary

The Morris School District seeks an Assistant Behavior Specialist (Part Time) to support students with atypical development through ABA-based instruction and behavior plans. The role involves implementing individualized programs across classroom and home settings, under the guidance of certified staff.

Responsibilities include data tracking, progress feedback, staff coordination, and participation in relevant trainings.

Qualifications

• Training in behavioral interventions with students demonstrating atypical development.
• Must meet NJ HQTA standards.
• Must have at least 60 college credits or a Paraprofessional Certificate.

Responsibilities

• Conduct ABA trials and assist with individualized instruction
• Assist with implementing behavioral intervention plans for students as required in their IEPs
• Implement individually designed programs in classroom, home, or other appropriate settings
• Work effectively with students with atypical development in social behaviors, attention, and language pragmatics
• Demonstrate use of acceptable procedures for intervening if students engage in challenging behaviors
• Follow directions of the certificated staff member responsible for behavior/IEPs
• Interact with parents appropriately within home and at staffing/conferences
• Maintain accurate, current data on each student per plans
• Provide regular feedback to supervising staff on student progress
• Participate in staffing to review progress and modify plans
• Assist with preparation of materials
• Participate in training sessions specified by the Director of Pupil Services
• Assist student with toileting needs
• Provide own transportation among sites with travel reimbursement as per district procedures
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Pupil Services, Supervisor of Special Education and/or Building Administrator

• Demonstrate use of acceptable procedures for intervening if students engage in inappropriate behaviors or physical challenges
• Follow directions of the certificated staff member with responsibility for the behavior and/or educational plans
• Interact with parents appropriately within the home setting and during staffing and conferences
• Maintain accurate, current data on each student in the manner specified in the individualized plans or as directed by the teacher/behavior specialist
• Provide regular feedback to supervising staff member on student progress
• Participate regularly in the staffing established to review progress and modify plans
• Assist with preparation of materials
• Participate in training sessions specified by the Director of Pupil Services
• Assist student with toileting needs
• Provide own transportation among sites with travel reimbursement in accordance with district procedures.
• Perform such other tasks and assuming such other responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Pupil Services, Supervisor of Special Education and/or Building Administrator

Contract Terms of Employment: Ten months - 184days - 3.5 hours per day
Salary: In accordance with the established TEAM Salary Guide currently $18,000
