Job summary

The University of Maine Augusta (UMA) is seeking an Assistant Men's Basketball Coach for our program. This temporary 10-month appointment runs from July 1 through April 30 and offers $2,000 for the full appointment, with a flexible schedule including practices, games, travel, evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities include assisting with women's field hockey coaching, recruitment, team administration, student athlete development, travel, and compliance with university requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• Experience coaching women's field hockey.
• Ability to recruit, organize, instruct, and supervise student athletes.
• Ability to create a positive and educational athletic experience.
• Valid driver's license in good standing.

Responsibilities

• Assist with planning, organizing, and supervising practices and games.
• Assist with coaching and instructing student athletes in basketball skills, strategies, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
• Assist with recruiting prospective student athletes for the program.
• Promote a positive team environment that supports student athlete growth and development.
• Assist with monitoring student athletes' academic progress and supporting their success through weekly in-season study halls and referrals to appropriate student resources when needed.
• Assist with submitting team rosters and other required information to the Athletic Director for eligibility review.
• Assist with collecting required student athlete documentation.
• Transport student athletes to and from games as needed.
• Ensure compliance with applicable safety protocols and University and departmental policies.
