Job summary

Adelante Schools in Indianapolis, IN seeks an Assistant Basketball Coach to guide student-athletes through practices and game days, organize tryouts with the Athletic Coordinator, and travel with the team on game days.

The role emphasizes developing skills, sportsmanship, and safe learning environments for students, with a winter season and Saturday games. Stipend of $1,250 paid at season end.

Qualifications

• Experience playing and/or coaching the sport.
• Ability to motivate, teach and recruit qualified student-athletes.
• Ability to foster positive relationships with students, and to work effectively with staff, and parents.
• The ability to handle stressful situations and keep tempers in check.
• Familiarity with the school's community and/or staff.
• Exhibits high standards of professional ethics and conduct.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, promote and conduct tryouts for the sport.
• Inform Athletic Coordinator and participants of final selections and communicate final cuts.
• Coaches during each game.
• Develop training programs and practice schedules.
• Studies the skills of each student-athlete and positions them for team success.
• Create a safe environment conducive to learning for student-athletes.
• Travel with student-athletes to games.
• Enforce discipline policies and promote sportsmanship.
