Job Description

The Assistant Baseball Coach assists the Baseball Head Coach in organizing and managing all phases of a Division I Baseball program, including recruiting, team travel, strength & conditioning, student‑athlete academic monitoring, public speaking, competition scheduling, budget management, and community/donor relations.

Brief Description of Duties

• Assists with coaching the team at practices and competitive events, scheduling, and oversight of individual pitcher/catcher workouts.
• Assists with academic oversight and personal well‑being of student‑athletes.
• Assists in building a nationally competitive Division I program through recruiting and retaining high‑level student‑athletes.
• Collaborates with the Head Coach, athletic trainers, and Strength and Conditioning Coach to design academic‑year (in‑season and out‑of‑season) and summer conditioning programs.
• Assists with budgeting, reconciling expenses, and proposing purchases for the sports program.
• Serves as a liaison to the broader university community, engaging in alumni, fundraising, and other stakeholder activities.
• Organizes community service events for the team.
• Responsible for assisting in all phases of a Division I intercollegiate baseball program, which includes scheduling, recruiting, travel coordination, budgets, and fundraising.
• Committed to the academic goals of the university and follows NCAA and Mountain West Conference rules and guidelines.
• Demonstrates awareness and experience understanding the needs of a diverse student population, through inclusive course materials, teaching strategies and advisement.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent pitching coaching experience.
• Demonstrated awareness and sensitivity to the educational goals of a multicultural population, gained in cross‑cultural study, training, teaching, or comparable experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree.
• Successful Division I Baseball collegiate or professional coaching experience.

Employment Conditions

Faculty employees must complete CSU employee training as assigned and required based on their role, including prevention of discrimination and harassment, gender equity and Title IX, health and safety. The faculty member in this position will be subject to ongoing review for designation as a Campus Security Authority (CSA). Campus Security Authority requirements and Clery Act training will be determined by the University Clery Director.

Compensation

Classification: 2382/Coaching Assistant
Salary Range: $6,288 monthly
