Job Description

The Assistant Baseball Coach assists the Baseball Head Coach in organizing and managing all phases of a Division I Baseball program, including recruiting, team travel, strength & conditioning, student‑athlete academic monitoring, public speaking, competition scheduling, budget management, and community/donor relations.

Responsibilities

• Assist with coaching the team at practices and competitive events, scheduling and overseeing individual pitcher/catcher workouts.
• Assist with academic oversight and personal well‑being of student‑athletes.
• Assist in building a nationally competitive Division I program through recruiting and retaining high‑level student‑athletes.
• Collaborate with the Head Coach, athletic trainers, and Strength and Conditioning Coach to design academic‑year and summer conditioning programs.
• Assist with budgeting, reconciling expenses, and proposing purchases for the sports program.
• Serve as a liaison to the university community, engaging in alumni, fundraising, and stakeholder activities.
• Organize community service events for the team.
• Assist in all phases of a Division I intercollegiate baseball program, including scheduling, recruiting, travel coordination, budgets, and fundraising.
• Commit to the academic goals of the university and follow NCAA and Mountain West Conference rules and guidelines.
• Demonstrate awareness of and experience with the needs of a diverse student population, including age, abilities, cultural background, ethnicity, religion, economic background, primary language, sexual orientation, gender identity, and academic preparation, through inclusive course materials and advisement.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent pitching coaching experience.
• Demonstrated awareness and sensitivity to the educational goals of a multicultural population.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree.
• Successful Division I Baseball collegiate or professional coaching experience.

Employment Conditions

Faculty employees must complete required CSU training, including prevention of discrimination and harassment, gender equity and Title IX, and health and safety. Faculty must be designated as a Campus Security Authority (CSA) if applicable and report Clery incidents as required.

Compensation

Classification: 2382/Coaching Assistant

Salary Range: $6,288 monthly
