Job summary

Beloit College's Department of Athletics invites applications for a Baseball Coach to support the head coach in daily team operations, mentoring student-athletes, and coordinating recruiting efforts in line with NCAA rules. The role includes working with strength and conditioning staff and carrying campus duties.

A bachelor's degree and prior coaching experience are required. Travel, availability nights and weekends, and adherence to college policies are expected.

Responsibilities

• Recruiting activities in coordination with enrollment and athletics to attract student-athletes while following NCAA and conference rules.
• Assist the strength and conditioning coach in a part-time capacity and maintain required certifications.
• Campus involvement, representing sports programs, managing equipment and post-season awards, and ensuring fiscal responsibility.

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities:

Baseball coaching and mentoring

1. Effectively assist the head baseball coach in all aspects.
2. Build strong, positive relationships to effectively mentor and teach students.
3. Teach students the skills needed to work with others, to be effective leaders, and to manage their time to achieve success in the classroom and in athletics.
4. Assist with all preparation and teaching for all practices and competitions.
5. Working with the head coach, establish appropriate codes of behavior for all team functions, including all practices and competitions.
6. Mentor students through regular meetings to enhance their academic performance.
7. Work with students to establish individual and team goals for each season.

Recruiting

1. Effectively assist the head baseball coach in all aspects.
2. Collaborate with colleagues in enrollment and athletics on complementary student recruitment approaches.
3. Communicate with prospective students and their influencers about Beloit as a college search option through a wide variety of contact channels, including email, texting, phone calls, and social media.
4. Develop a sense of rapport with prospective audiences.
5. Recruit student-athletes in alignment with the goals and methods of Beloit's enrollment office, and in accordance with NCAA and MWC rules and regulations.
6. Attend high school games, showcases, camps, and other recruiting events.
7. Meet with prospective students and families during open houses, daily campus visits, and off-campus receptions.

Strength and conditioning coaching

1. Effectively assist the strength and conditioning coach in a part-time capacity.
2. Obtain and maintain required certifications.
3. Build rapport with student-athletes across teams to foster an encouraging, impactful training environment.

Campus involvement and administrative duties

1. Be an active member of the Beloit College community.
2. Be actively involved in the College's efforts to become an anti-racist institution in each of the primary functions of coaching, mentoring, recruiting, and involvement throughout campus.
3. Represent sports programs to various institutional constituencies as well as students, parents, the public, and external agencies.
4. Practice responsible fiscal management.
5. Assist head coach in coordinating all post-season awards and banquets.
6. Assist head coach with inventory and management of all equipment and uniforms.

Credentials and Experience:

1. Bachelor's degree required.
2. Previous coaching experience required.

10. Willingness to look for improvements in personnel and office performance and initiate proposals that enhance the work of the office.

Special Requirements:

1. Ability to work nights and weekends.

Physical Requirements:

1. Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk, as well as standing and walking during practices and games.
2. Ability to lift, push, pull, and transport items weighing up to 25 pounds independently.
3. May require working outdoors in varying weather conditions
