Hyatt Hotels Corporation in Scottsdale invites applications for an Assistant Banquet Manager - Event Set Up. The role oversees the translation of sales/events vision into elegant, functional banquet spaces for weddings, corporate galas, and conferences.

You will lead a team, ensure safety and aesthetics, and collaborate with multiple hotel departments to deliver exceptional guest experiences in a dynamic resort environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Event Set Up team: recruit, train, schedule, motivate.
• Prepare post-event reports and ensure accurate billing and safety compliance.

The Assistant Banquet Manager - Event Set Up is responsible for the physical execution of all event floor plans. This role bridges the gap between the Sales/Events team’s vision and the operational reality of the ballroom. You will lead a team to transform empty spaces into functional, beautiful environments for weddings, corporate galas, and conferences, ensuring all safety standards and aesthetic requirements are met.

Roles and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Assisting in planning and organizing events, including setting up, managing, and breaking down banquet spaces.
• Ensure all event details are aligned with client specifications and expectations.
• Working closely with clients, event planners, and other departments within the hotel.
• Address and resolve client or guest related complaints promptly and professionally.
• Oversee the setup of tables, chairs, linens, and décor according to event requirements.
• Ensure the proper setup of AV equipment, catering stations, and any other event-specific needs.
• Led the Event Set Up team by recruiting, training, scheduling, and motivating staff to consistently meet deadlines.
• Collaborate with leaders across the resort to effectively prepare and execute events, partnering with Event Services, Event Planning, Sales, Culinary, Rooms, AV, and other departments.
• Assist in maintaining inventory levels for banquet supplies and equipment, including tables, chairs, linens, dance floors, and staging items.
• Prepare post-event reports, including attendant, revenue, and any operational challenges.
• Ensure all billing and payment processes are completed accurately in Micros and Evention.
• Ensure all events comply with health and safety regulations, including food safety, fire safety, OHSA regulations, emergency procedures, and general workplace safety.

Qualifications

• A true desire to satisfy the needs of others in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to stand for long periods and walk moderate distances.
• Ability to lift, pull, and push a moderate weight (about 50 lbs.).
• Proficient in basic computer skills.
• Previous experience in banquets preferred (full-service hotel).
• Previous experience with Micros and Evention preferred.
• Previous Payroll and/or Dimensions experience preferred.
• Previous experience in banquet service, event coordination, or hospitality management is preferred.
• Strong leadership and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple events simultaneously.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Knowledge of banquet operations, food and beverage service, and event management.
• Flexibility to work mornings, afternoon and evenings including weekends & holidays.
