Job summary

Description

Do you love the energy of events, leading a team, and watching hundreds of details come together to create an incredible experience? The Country Club of Virginia is seeking an experienced Assistant Banquet Manager to join our Food & Beverage leadership team.
In this role, you will help lead the daily execution of events across the Club, working closely with Banquet leadership, Culinary, Event Services, and other departments to bring each BEO to life and deliver exceptional experiences for members and guests. Most importantly, you will lead people by coaching staff, developing future leaders, setting clear expectations, and building a team that takes pride in outstanding service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead banquet captains, servers, bartenders, and setup teams during event preparation, execution, and breakdown
  • Conduct pre-shift meetings, communicate event expectations, and ensure team members are prepared for service
  • Review banquet event orders and translate event details into clear, organized operational plans

Qualifications
  • 2-5 years of experience leading banquets, catering, events, or high-volume hospitality operations
  • L ove being on the floor and aren't afraid to jump in when the team needs you
  • Can read a BEO and turn it into a well-organized plan
  • Understand room setups, floor plans, service flow, and event timing
  • Manage multiple events and priorities without losing the details
  • Understand scheduling and labor management and know when to adjust staffing as business changes
  • Have experience with beverage service and bar operations
  • Communicate well with culinary teams, event planners, and fellow managers
  • Stay calm when something changes five minutes before the doors open
  • Care about developing people as much as executing the event
  • Take pride in creating memorable experiences for members and guests

  • Provide overall team leadership
  • Follow and enforce Special Events procedures and policies

Education and Experience
  • College degree in hospitality, business, or related field preferred
  • Private club experience or exposure is helpful but not essential

Ideal Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated hands-on management style, strong administrative skills, and a planning mindset with the ability to successfully execute events and lead a winning team. Prior management and serving experience are required. The candidate will manage a high-volume department with 11 event spaces, averaging 35 weddings per year, and handle events ranging from 15 to over 1,000 guests. Additionally, they must have the ability to manage a team of over 50 people effectively.

The Banquet management team consists of the Director of Banquets, two Banquet Managers, the Assistant Manager, Supervisors, and Captains.
