Job Summary
An Assistant Manager is responsible for assisting in developing and implementing strategies focused on branch profitability and performance. The role involves helping lead and develop the branch team, maximizing branch performance under the guidance of the Banking Center Manager, and gaining the trust of others through honesty, integrity, and authenticity.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Leadership
- Assess and coach the branch team with the Banking Center Manager, providing constructive feedback to improve effectiveness and accountability.
- Conduct regular coaching sessions alongside BCM coaching.
- Assist with employment, training, scheduling, and associate relations.
- Act as primary liaison for complex, escalated situations.
- Manage talent including succession planning, attracting, and retaining top talent, and developing bench strength.
- Build trusting relationships with customers and associates, maintain a positive environment, and recognize team efforts.
- Represent the bank at community, charitable, and civic events.
- Seek continuing education to enhance leadership skills.
- Lead customer-facing technology discussions and enroll customers in self-service products.
Performance Management
- Support the Community Bank playbook to ensure branch success.
- Drive activities for consumer loan growth.
- Encourage needs-based customer conversations through Relationship Builder coaching.
- Develop and maintain a Center of Influence (COI) with community and business leaders for referrals.
- Partner with internal business leaders.
- Prepare reports and analyze branch data.
- Balance business needs with customer requests while managing risk.
Operations
- Ensure compliance with AML/BSA requirements and communicate updates.
- Practice ethical sales behaviors aligned with the Code of Conduct and Sales Practices Policy.
- Ensure safety, security, and business continuity procedures are followed.
- Perform various roles within the branch as needed.
- Assist with notary, signature guarantee, and medallion services.
- Handle KYC and RFI responsibilities.
Business Development/Credit Acumen
- Source Treasury Management and small business lending solutions.
- Understand and promote all consumer products, emphasizing consumer lending.
- Possess working knowledge of small business deposit and lending products.
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- College degree or 5+ years in retail sales/financial services required.
- Proficient in consumer lending products with active NMLS registration.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient with PC, Microsoft Office, and mobile devices.
- Proven ability to lead, motivate, and coach teams.
- At least 2 years of consumer lending experience required.
- Business development and supervisory experience preferred.
