Assistant Bakery Manager (Food Services)

We are actively seeking an Assistant Bakery Manager for our new store location in Sayville, NY! (coming soon!) High-volume baking experience and an eye for detail are required for this position. Our Assistant Bakery Managers support our Bakery Managers, supervise baking staff, and help manage all bakery operations.

Responsibilities

1. Assist the Bakery Manager with the daily operations of the Bakery Department.
2. Work with the baking team to produce gourmet items including cakes, cookies, tarts, muffins, and special orders.
3. Lead by example, providing excellent customer service to all customers, including counter, in-person, and online orders.
4. Support the Bakery team with food safety and sanitation standards.
5. Assist with hiring and training processes for the Bakery Department, under the guidance of the Bakery Manager.
6. Maintain service and production standards during high-volume holidays.
7. Inspect bakery items to ensure quality, uniformity, and display appeal.
8. Resolve customer complaints professionally.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; Pastry Chef training is a plus.
• At least 3 years of bakery experience, with 2 years in a management role.
• Food handler's license.
• In-depth knowledge of bakery operations, including hiring, training, and scheduling employees.
• Ability to work under pressure during busy holidays.
• Fluent in English (reading, speaking, communication).
• Excellent communication skills and a drive to provide outstanding customer service.

Working Conditions

Most time is spent moving on hard surfaces, with frequent bending, climbing, crawling, handling, pulling, reaching, and stooping. May require lifting objects up to 30 pounds, and occasionally more with assistance. Work environment includes indoor, noisy machinery, and temperature extremes from freezers, ovens, and coolers. Exposure to cleaning agents and sharp/industrial equipment may occur.
