Albertsons Companies is seeking an Assistant Bakery Manager to support daily bakery operations and drive sales while upholding quality and food safety standards.

You will lead bakery associates, manage scheduling, train staff, and ensure excellent customer service. This role emphasizes teamwork, merchandising excellence, and adherence to company policies in a fast-paced retail environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist in managing daily bakery department operations.
• Support production planning to ensure product availability and freshness.
• Monitor inventory levels and participate in ordering, receiving, and stock rotation.
• Ensure proper merchandising, pricing, signing, and presentation of bakery products.
• Maintain department cleanliness and organization in accordance with company standards.
• Deliver exceptional customer service and create a positive shopping experience.
• Resolve customer concerns promptly and professionally.
• Promote bakery products and suggestive selling opportunities.
• Assist with training, coaching, and developing bakery associates.
• Support scheduling and allocation of labor to meet business needs.
• Promote teamwork, accountability, and a positive work environment.
• Provide leadership and direction in the absence of the Bakery Manager.
• Ensure compliance with all food safety, sanitation, health, and safety regulations.
• Monitor product freshness dates and proper product handling procedures.
• Maintain accurate department records and documentation.
• Ensure adherence to company policies, operational standards, and procedures.
• Support efforts to achieve sales, margin, shrink, and labor goals.
• Monitor department performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Assist with controlling expenses and reducing waste.
• Help implement promotional programs and merchandising initiatives to drive sales.

Job Summary

The Assistant Bakery Manager supports the Bakery Manager in overseeing daily bakery operations, driving sales, maintaining product quality, ensuring food safety compliance, and delivering excellent customer service. This position helps lead and develop bakery team members while ensuring department standards, merchandising, and production goals are achieved.

Key Responsibilities Department Operations

• Assist in managing daily bakery department operations.
• Support production planning to ensure product availability and freshness.
• Monitor inventory levels and participate in ordering, receiving, and stock rotation.
• Ensure proper merchandising, pricing, signing, and presentation of bakery products.
• Maintain department cleanliness and organization in accordance with company standards.

Customer Service

• Deliver exceptional customer service and create a positive shopping experience.
• Resolve customer concerns promptly and professionally.
• Promote bakery products and suggestive selling opportunities.
• Ensure customer special orders are completed accurately and on time.

Team Leadership

• Assist with training, coaching, and developing bakery associates.
• Support scheduling and allocation of labor to meet business needs.
• Promote teamwork, accountability, and a positive work environment.
• Provide leadership and direction in the absence of the Bakery Manager.

Food Safety & Compliance

• Ensure compliance with all food safety, sanitation, health, and safety regulations.
• Monitor product freshness dates and proper product handling procedures.
• Maintain accurate department records and documentation.
• Ensure adherence to company policies, operational standards, and procedures.

Financial Performance

• Support efforts to achieve sales, margin, shrink, and labor goals.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous bakery, food service, or retail management experience preferred.
• Strong leadership, communication, and customer service skills.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and work in a fast-paced environment.
• Basic computer and inventory management skills.
• Knowledge of bakery products, production processes, and food safety standards preferred.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and lift throughout the workday.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to work in varying temperatures, including refrigerated and freezer environments.
• Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
