• Ensure all bakery products are properly prepared, displayed, labeled, and merchandised.
• Maintain department appearance, cleanliness, and organization.
• Monitor production levels to meet customer demand while minimizing shrink.
• Support execution of sales plans, promotions, and merchandising programs.
• Assist with training, coaching, and developing bakery associates.
• Support scheduling and daily work assignments.
• Monitor employee performance and provide feedback to improve productivity and service levels.
• Lead by example through professionalism, teamwork, and adherence to company standards.
• Oversee department operations in the Bakery Manager's absence.
• Assist with inventory management, ordering, and stock replenishment.
• Help control labor, supplies, and shrink expenses.
• Monitor product rotation and freshness standards.

Position Summary

The Assistant Bakery Manager supports the Bakery Manager in overseeing daily department operations, driving sales, maintaining product quality, and delivering excellent customer service. This position helps ensure the bakery operates efficiently, remains fully stocked with fresh products, and meets all company, food safety, and regulatory standards. The Assistant Bakery Manager also plays a key role in training associates, managing inventory, and leading the department in the Bakery Manager's absence.

Key Responsibilities Department Operations

• Assist with the daily operation of the bakery department.
• Ensure all bakery products are properly prepared, displayed, labeled, and merchandised.
• Maintain department appearance, cleanliness, and organization.
• Monitor production levels to meet customer demand while minimizing shrink.
• Support execution of sales plans, promotions, and merchandising programs.

Customer Service

• Provide outstanding customer service and create a welcoming shopping experience.
• Assist customers with product questions, special orders, and recommendations.
• Resolve customer concerns professionally and promptly.
• Promote bakery products and suggest additional purchases when appropriate.

Leadership & Team Development

• Assist with training, coaching, and developing bakery associates.
• Support scheduling and daily work assignments.
• Monitor employee performance and provide feedback to improve productivity and service levels.
• Lead by example through professionalism, teamwork, and adherence to company standards.
• Oversee department operations in the Bakery Manager's absence.

Inventory & Financial Performance

• Assist with inventory management, ordering, and stock replenishment.
• Help control labor, supplies, and shrink expenses.

Food Safety & Compliance

• Ensure compliance with all food safety, sanitation, and health regulations.
• Follow company policies regarding product handling, storage, and preparation.
• Maintain a safe working environment for associates and customers.
• Ensure proper use and maintenance of bakery equipment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous bakery, food service, or retail supervisory experience preferred.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.

• Ability to work in refrigerated areas and around bakery equipment.
