Job Description
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Promotes excellent customer relations by instilling positive customer-focused behavior with associates. Greets customers, answers questions, and resolves issues promptly and professionally. Focuses on continuous improvement and implements changes for progress.
- Takes customer orders over the phone or in person, determines customer preferences, and creates decorated products in a timely manner.
- Decorates cakes and bakery products using dyes, designs, or custom creations, ensuring consistent quality and adherence to recipes.
- Assists Bakery Manager with daily operations such as merchandising, ad execution, and staff engagement. Acts as Bakery Manager in their absence.
- Oversees inventory management by tracking sales, ordering products, and ensuring successful physical inventories.
- Supports scheduling, training, performance recognition, and delegating work to maximize department efficiency and profits. Utilizes the Learning Management System for training.
- Develops merchandising plans aligned with financial goals, manages pricing and production based on weekly ads and specials, and enforces production logs.
- Verifies deliveries and invoices for accuracy, manages product restocking, and monitors quality and freshness.
- Controls expenses by improving operations, managing labor costs, and minimizing losses from damages or spoilage. Ensures compliance with recipes and proper product handling.
- Maintains well-stocked, attractive bakery displays, greets customers, offers suggestions, and resolves concerns courteously.
- Ensures products are fresh, properly priced, and signage is correct. Manages spoiled or expired products per company policies.
- May assist in baking breads, pastries, and other goods, following production logs and recipes.
- Supports smooth workflow and continuous job performance improvement within the department.
- Utilizes all provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) properly.
- May assist in other departments as needed.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Supervises department associates in partnership with or in the absence of the department manager.
Qualification Requirements
Must be able to perform all duties satisfactorily with or without accommodations. Requirements include:
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in business or food service preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years’ management experience in retail, restaurant, or supermarket environment.
- Previous decorating experience is preferred.
