The County of Monterey, California is committed to driving efficiency, transparency, and accountability within its government and is seeking an Assistant Auditor-Controller to support these efforts. Reporting to the elected Auditor-Controller, this position will mentor and collaborate with the Division Chief Deputies. The Assistant Auditor-Controller provides strategic leadership and oversight across five divisions, while ensuring accountability in spending of the County's approximate $2.3 billion annual budget. The new Assistant Auditor-Controller will have the exciting opportunity to assist with overseeing the final implementation of the County's Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, the HR/Payroll module and to support the newly implemented Budget and Financial modules. The ideal candidate will have a background in finance, auditing, accounting, payroll, and ERP implementation experience, preferably at the City or County level, or in a similarly sized public sector organization and a background ensuring compliance with state and federal regulatory requirements and Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) standards. Excellent written and oral communication, collaboration, attention to detail, and a proactive, solution-oriented mindset are essential for success in this role.
