Performs difficult professional legal work as a prosecutor for the County and for the State; does related work as required. This position will comprise a wide range of experience. We will consider candidates from newly graduated law students to experienced practitioners. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Commonwealth's Attorney. Supervision may be exercised over office staff.
There are two levels to this position.
Assistant Attorney I:
The hiring range for this position is from $93,184.00 to $128,128.00 based on experience.
The full salary range for this position is from $93,184.00 to $163,072.00 to provide opportunity for growth and development.
Assistant Attorney II:
The hiring range for this position is from $99,715.20 to $137,113.60 based on experience.
The full salary range for this position is from $99,715.20 to $174,512.00 to provide opportunity for growth and development.
- Serves as prosecutor, preparing cases for prosecution; trying cases in the General District Court, Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court, and Circuit Court.
- Prepares and presents cases in the Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court, General District Court, and Circuit Court;
- Tries criminal offenses brought under County and State Statutes;
- Interviews police officers, victims, witnesses and other individuals in preparing cases;
- Prepares legal research and writing for issues anticipated in criminal trials;
- Provides assistance to citizens and law enforcement officers;
- Performs related tasks as required.
Assistant Attorney I
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from a law school of recognized standing and 1 year of experience as a practicing attorney, some of which shall have been in the practice of criminal law.
Assistant Attorney IIAny combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from a law school of recognized standing and 3 years of experience as a practicing attorney, some of which shall have been in the practice of criminal law.Special Requirements
