Job Duties
The Office of the Attorney General is seeking an experienced civil litigation attorney to serve as an Assistant Attorney General in the Trial Section's General Civil Unit. Defending the Commonwealth of Virginia, its agencies and departments, and its officials and employees in state and federal courts, litigating cases ranging from personal injury torts to alleged violations of constitutional rights. The representation includes legal research, preparing pleadings, drafting briefs and legal memoranda, conducting all aspects of discovery including e-discovery, motions practice, providing legal advice to clients, court appearances, and trial and appellate work - in addition to providing or receiving mentorship while working closely with other attorneys in the Unit.
