Office of the Attorney General Department of Law Assistant Attorney General - Criminal Justice - Public Safety The mission of the Department of Law is to serve the citizens of the State of Georgia by providing legal representation of the highest quality to the agencies, officers and employees of state government and by honorably and vigorously carrying out the constitutional and statutory responsibilities of the Attorney General.
The position filled through this announcement will serve in Public Safety section of the Criminal Justice Division.
The primary duties of this position include general representation of public safety agencies such as the Department of Corrections, GBI, Board of Pardons and Paroles and the Department of Juvenile Justice. Attorneys in this section assist the various agencies and also appear in both state and federal court on actions such as mandamus, declaratory judgment and requests for injunctive relief. Also included are administrative cases before OSAH. Public Safety Lawyers have an interesting mix of state and federal litigation and appellate practice. The ideal candidate will have experience and a level of comfort in the courtroom, civil practice experience and good communication and writing skills.
Graduation from an accredited law school and Member of the Georgia Bar
