Respond to federal court challenges to convictions obtained by the AGO and District Attorneys’ Offices, including habeas corpus actions and direct appeals
Represent Massachusetts agencies and officials sued or subpoenaed in relation to criminal justice matters
Handle a large caseload of criminal and civil matters in state and federal trial and appellate courts
Handle appeals and post-conviction matters in Massachusetts courts
Handle federal habeas corpus actions in the United States District Court challenging Massachusetts convictions
Handle First Circuit appeals from grants or denials of habeas corpus relief
Represent judges, clerks, probation officers, prosecutors, officials, and agencies in civil lawsuits or subpoena matters
Defend criminal justice statutes, rules, practices, and procedures against constitutional and other challenges
