Job description

The Assistant Athletics Director, Compliance provides staff services in support Army West Point Athletic Association Inc.’s (“AWPAA”) NCAA compliance and eligibility initiatives. The Assistant Athletics Director, Compliance assists with all aspects of managing a Division I NCAA compliance program. Specifically, the goal is to educate, monitor and report on all activities pertaining to NCAA, Patriot League/affiliate conference, and United States Military Academy (“USMA”) rules and regulations governing intercollegiate athletics. The Assistant Athletics Director, Compliance will develop and implement compliance policies, procedures, systems, and strategies. Primary responsibilities include the day-to-day operations associated with monitoring compliance with NCAA and affiliate conference rules and regulations and educating staff regarding all NCAA and affiliate conference rules. It is expected that this person will communicate directly with all staff, coaches, and cadet-athletes regarding NCAA compliance in a timely manner.

What You'll Do
30% Monitoring
  • Monitor and approve all recruiting activity including, but not limited to, official/unofficial visits, contacts, evaluations, phone calls and other correspondence.
  • Declare and monitor team playing/practice calendars.
  • Coordinate complimentary admissions for cadet-athletes and prospective cadet-athletes.
  • Assist with review and fact finding related to potential NCAA violations and waivers.
  • Coordinate coaching limitations monitoring.
  • Liaison with the Sports Camp office.
  • Coordinate review and approval of outside competition.
30% Athletic Eligibility
  • Provide general oversight over continuing eligibility in collaboration with academic staff and registrar.
  • Manage the cadet-athlete tryout process.
  • Execute evaluation of PSA tryout activities – on-campus evaluations, tryout exceptions.
  • Work with NCAA databases, Teamworks, ARMS, and internal resources to monitor rosters; assist with initial eligibility and transfers.
  • Manage all matters related to inbound and outbound transfers.
35% Administrative/Organizational Development
  • Coordinate monthly and annual rules education meetings for coaches and staff, educate staff and campus community.
  • Provide affiliate conference and NCAA rules interpretations.
  • Assist with policy review and development.
  • Represent compliance office at meeting/events as assigned.
  • Travel with sport teams as assigned.
  • Assist with stewardship of campus liaisons including offices of the registrar and admissions.
5% Other Duties
  • May serve as secondary sport administrator for athletic teams if deemed necessary and appropriate by the Director of Athletics.

$64,000 to $66,000
This job posting contains a pay range, which represents the range of salaries that AWPAA believes, in good faith, at the time of this posting that it might be willing to pay for the posted position. AWPAA expects to hire for this position near the middle of the range. Only in truly rare and exceptional circumstances, where an external candidate has experience, credentials or expertise that far exceed those required or expected for the position, would AWPAA consider paying a salary or rate near the higher end of the range.
