Job summary

Metro Physical & Aquatic Therapy seeks an Assistant Athletic Trainer to support LIU Brooklyn Women’s Basketball, promoting health, wellness, and performance in student-athletes.

Under physician supervision, you’ll handle injury prevention, on-field assessments, rehabilitation, and coordination with coaches, medical staff, and parents, while maintaining records and ensuring NCAA/NATA compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree from a CAATE accredited Athletic Training Program required.
• Current BOC Certification required.
• Must be licensed as a Certified Athletic Trainer in New York State.
• CPR/AED for professional rescuer required.

Responsibilities

• Assist Head Athletic Trainer with office operations, first aid, injury prevention, and management.
• Perform initial on-field assessments and coordinate with medical staff.
• Communicate with athletes, coaching staff, parents, doctors, and administration.
• Document treatment, progress, and rehabilitation plans.
• Cover home and away practices and games as assigned.
• Assist in development of training and conditioning programs.
• Apply preventive taping and protective equipment.
