Job description

Assistant Athletic Trainer (2 vacancies)

The Assistant Athletic Trainer assists in the daily operation of two Athletic training facilities and is responsible for the proper medical care, prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries. Primary team assignments will be based on the applicant’s interests and team availability. Occasionally, assistance with coverage of other sports may be required. Minimal to no travel is expected for this position.

Minimum qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's of Arts or Science in Athletic Training.
  2. Must be NATABOC certified or eligible to sit for the exam in Spring 2024.
  3. Eligible for South Carolina licensure.
  4. Professional rescuer CPR/AED certification.
  5. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  6. Valid driver's license and safe driving history.
  7. Excellent customer service skills and strong ethics.

Preferred qualifications:

  1. Master’s degree.
  2. Experience in intercollegiate athletics, injury prevention, and rehabilitation.
  3. Knowledge of advanced rehabilitation techniques such as Graston, FMS, active release therapy, or other manual or IASTM methods.
  4. Certified as a CPR/First Aid instructor through the Red Cross or American Heart Association.
  5. Effective communication skills with faculty, staff, students, and other campus constituents.
  6. Understanding of current athletic training techniques related to injury recognition, treatment, and rehabilitation.
  7. Experience working with various sports and as part of a comprehensive sports medicine team.
  8. Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.
