Valparaiso University is seeking an athletic trainer to serve assigned teams within the Sports Medicine group. The role involves evaluating injuries, coordinating medical coverage, and maintaining comprehensive medical records for student-athletes, including histories and progress notes.
The successful candidate will collaborate with coaches, physicians, and sports medicine staff, and will oversee preseason physicals and travel arrangements for away games as needed.
This position will serve as the athletic trainer for assigned teams and will work as part of the Sports Medicine team to facilitate the care of student-athletes.
Responsibilities include evaluation of illnesses, injuries, and course of action. Assist in coordinating appropriate medical personnel coverage and travel with assigned teams for away competition. Serve as a liaison for the medical care and well-being between student-athletes, coaches, physicians, healthcare providers and sports medicine staff. Update and maintain accurate medical records for individual student-athletes including medical history, physical exam forms, daily injury reports and progress notes. Responsible for operating and implementing preseason physicals.
