Position Summary
Missouri Baptist University is seeking to hire an Assistant Athletic Trainer. This full-time role supports athletes' health through injury prevention, treatment, rehabilitation, and education. The position collaborates closely with the Head Athletic Trainer and the athletic department to ensure athletes receive optimal care.
Essential Responsibilities
- Injury Prevention and Assessment
- Conduct pre-participation physical examinations and screenings.
- Develop and implement injury prevention programs.
- Evaluate athletes' physical conditions and provide injury assessments.
- Treatment and Rehabilitation
- Design and supervise rehabilitation programs for injured athletes.
- Administer first aid and emergency care as needed.
- Utilize therapeutic modalities to facilitate recovery.
- Practice and Game Coverage
- Provide on-site coverage for practices and games.
- Ensure availability of necessary medical equipment and supplies.
- Respond promptly to injuries during events.
- Documentation and Record Keeping
- Maintain accurate records of injuries, treatments, and rehabilitation progress.
- Prepare injury reports and communicate effectively with coaches and medical staff.
- Education and Counseling
- Educate athletes on injury prevention, nutrition, and health.
- Provide guidance on physical and mental well-being.
- Conduct workshops and training sessions for athletes and staff.
Minimum Requirements/Certifications/Licensure
- Bachelor's Degree in Athletic Training, Sports Medicine, Kinesiology, or related field.
- Certification by the Board of Certification (BOC) for Athletic Trainers.
- State licensure or eligibility to obtain licensure in the state of employment.
- 1-2 years of practical experience, preferably in collegiate or high school settings, including internships or clinical rotations.
- Experience in developing rehabilitation and treatment plans, using therapeutic modalities and manual therapy.
- Experience providing on-site coverage during sports practices and competitions, managing injuries, and providing emergency care.
- Experience maintaining detailed medical records and injury reports.
- Statement of faith including a relationship with Jesus Christ, participation in a local church, and alignment with the University's Baptist Faith and Message 2000.
Preferred Education/Experience
- Advanced degree and specialized certifications.
- Technical skills in electronic medical records and sports performance technology.
- Ongoing professional development in athletic training.
