Position Summary:

This is a 12-month full-time position within the Athletic Department of the Division of Student Affairs. Reporting to the Executive Director of Athletics and supervised by the Head Athletic Trainer, the Assistant Athletic Trainer assists in providing athletic training services to varsity intercollegiate athletes. Responsibilities include injury care, prevention, treatment, rehabilitation, and administrative duties related to the athletic training room.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Head Athletic Trainer in delivering athletic training services to varsity student-athletes; care, prevent, treat, and rehabilitate injuries; evaluate injuries, provide emergency care/first aid, and make medical referrals.
  • Administer physical modalities, therapeutic, and rehabilitative exercises; manage daily operations of the athletic training room, including coverage during practices and games, AED, and golf cart use.
  • Serve as the primary athletic trainer for Football's 105 student-athletes; conduct helmet and shoulder pad fittings; review health forms; conduct physicals; monitor weather conditions; schedule modality maintenance; provide practice coverage and injury reports; coordinate ambulance and physician coverage for games; travel with the team to away games and cover home games.
  • Travel for postseason/training trips for other sports as needed.
  • Perform weight certifications for the wrestling team.
  • Manage inventory, update Emergency Action Plans, organize medical records, submit insurance claims, and facilitate referrals for physician services. Assist with summer physicals for athletes.
  • Provide athletic training services to all varsity athletes as assigned.
  • Supervise student workers, interns, and athletic training students from affiliated MSAT programs.
  • Work independently.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training, Physical Education, Sports Management, or related field; Master's degree or equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of athletic training experience beyond undergraduate level, including at least 2 years working with football at the collegiate level.
  • Willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Willing to travel.
  • NATABOC Certification.
  • NJ Athletic Training license through the NJ Board of Medical Examiners.
  • Current CPR/AED certification per NATABOC guidelines.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Physical demands such as moving or setting up equipment.
