Position Summary

The Assistant Athletic Director of Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) at DU will be responsible for leading and executing comprehensive strategies related to all NIL / revenue sharing activities , with a strong focus on fostering authentic NIL /revenue sharing opportunities, cultivating brand partnerships, and managing NIL /revenue sharing related contracts. This role serves as the central coordinator for NIL /revenue sharing initiatives, ensuring student-athletes, coaches, staff, prospective student-athletes, and external stakeholders are equipped with the necessary tools, education, and support to fully capitalize on NIL opportunities. The Assistant AD will maintain regular, transparent communication with student-athletes and internal staff regarding best practices and opportunities in key areas such as corporate partnerships, brand building, outside representation, group licensing, financial literacy, and contract due diligence. Acting as the primary liaison among all relevant university stakeholders, the Assistant AD will oversee the implementation and continual review of DU’s NIL policies and procedures to ensure alignment with university, state, federal, and NCAA regulations. Additionally, the positionwill track and monitor NIL activity, contracting, and develop educational programming that promotes NIL awareness and literacy across the DU community.

Essential Functions

  • Responsible for developing and executing strategies for all NIL /revenue sharing activities .
  • Coordinate NIL efforts to provide student-athletes, coaches, staff, external stakeholders, and prospective student-athletes with the necessary tools, education, and support to maximize NIL opportunities.
  • Maintain consistent communication with student-athletes, coaches, and staff regarding opportunities and best practices in NIL /revenue sharing , including but not limited to: corporate partnerships; outside representation; group licensing; brand building; financial literacy ; and contract due diligence.
  • Serve as the liaison on NIL /revenue sharing related matters between all relevant university stakeholders.
  • Oversee the implementation and regular review of university NIL /revenue sharing policies and procedures.
  • Assist with the tracking and monitoring of NIL /revenue sharing while ensur ing compliance with DU , state, federal, and NCAA NIL rules and regulations .
  • Develop and implement educational programming surrounding NIL.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of NIL/revenue sharing best practices in the areas of: brand management, authentic NIL, business development and contract terminology.
  • Ability to interact effectively as a member of a team and work collaboratively with coaches, staff, student-athletes and constituents.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the NCAA rules and regulations regarding NIL compliance issues.
  • Project management skills demonstrating strong conceptual and analytical skills, planning abilities, and sound judgment.
  • Use consultative skills with an ability to ask guiding questions that lead to best practices for data analysis and actionable follow-through.
  • Prioritize and handle multiple, complex, demanding projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate issues effectively with administrators, campus and community partners and to explain technical concepts in non-technical terms to stakeholders.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent plus 2 years of relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a DI athletic program as a coach or administrator; k nowledge of collegiate athletics, NCAA rules and regulations

Working Environment

  • Standard office environment
  • Noise and stress level is moderate to high and fluctuates through the season

Physical Activities

  • Occasionally required to move about the office/campus
  • Ability to work in front of a computer for extended periods of time

Work Schedule
Monday through Friday 8am to 4:30pm. Some weekends, evenings and travel during varsity seasons.

Salary Grade Number:
The salary grade for the position is 11.

Salary Range:
The salary range for this position is $75,000-$85,000

The University of Denver has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The University may ultimately pay more or less than the posted compensation range. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, but not based on a candidate’s sex or any other protected status.
