Qualifications

• Earned doctorate in Special Education or related Education or Learning fields.
• Minimum of 5 years of PreK-22 teaching experience across various special education settings.
• Demonstrated commitment to advancing equity initiatives within an educational setting and alignment with the Illinois Culturally Responsive Teaching and Leading standards.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a teaching load of 24 graduate semester hours across Fall, Winter, and Spring terms.
• Teach core special education and related courses; foster inclusive environments and mentor graduate students.
• Contribute to university service, including program development, recruitment, accreditation, and college/university committee work.
• Lead educational justice initiatives with an intersectional lens; develop curricula and engage in department/university activities.
• Maintain community engagement and partnerships with schools and community agencies; collaborate with colleagues and leadership.
• Engage in professional practice activities, curriculum development, and research in special education policy and practice.

Education

Doctorate in Special Education or related Education field

ABD status acceptable with progress toward completion by Aug 2027
