Assistant/Associate Professor of Virology

Position Title: Assistant/Associate Professor of Virology

Department: CVM Academic Affairs

Position Category: Faculty

Job Description: The Assistant/Associate Professor of Virology shall have the primary responsibility of teaching virology and shall be held accountable for the teaching obligations as it contributes to the attainment of the mission of the University, the College of Veterinary Medicine, and the Department.

Required Qualifications:

  1. Veterinary Medical degree or a PhD

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. M.S. in virology and/or specialty board certification are highly desirable

Physical Demands:

Campus: Harrogate

Responsibilities:

  1. Design and deliver the didactic course(s) in virology appropriate for the veterinary curriculum.
  2. Contribute to the planning, development, and evaluation of basic sciences didactic and laboratory sessions within the College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM).
  3. Develop an area of scholarship that enhances teaching and generates new knowledge.
  4. Promote by precept and example a general atmosphere within the CVM of respect for knowledge, thought, and inquiry.
  5. Maintain intellectual integrity and strive for academic excellence in teaching.
  6. Carry out lecture, seminar, small group discussion, and/or clinical assignments and responsibilities effectively.
  7. Prepare examination questions and grade a course or portion of a course.
  8. Meet classes according to the published schedule.
  9. Commit to working in a multicultural environment that fosters diversity.
  10. Provide service by attending scheduled faculty meetings and serving on appointed and/or elected committees as required.
  11. Complete required institutional, program accreditation, and other reports necessary for the operation and advancement of CVM and University programs, both on campus and at extended campus sites.
  12. Promote the mission of Lincoln Memorial University to all faculty, staff, students, and the community at large.
  13. Promote effective working relationships among faculty, staff, and students.
  14. Perform other duties as assigned.
  15. Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in supporting and promoting success in the CVM.
